Renting A RV? What You Should Pack For A More Comfortable Outdoor Adventure

Going camping isn't quite as primitive as it once was. Do you enjoy the outdoors, but don't really enjoy the idea of spending the night on the cold, hard ground? Do you want more over your head than just a thin layer of fabric? If so, it's time for you to consider renting a RV for your outing. When you rent a RV, you will have the sturdy roof over your head, the luxury of a bed to sleep on and the kitchen accommodations to make meal preparation easy.

When planning a getaway in a rented vehicle, you will still need to bring along a few supplies to ensure that your adventure is comfortable, fun and safe. Below, you will learn what to bring along during your great outdoor-ish adventure.

Sleeping Supplies

Many rental units don't supply you with sheets, blankets and pillows for your stay. In many cases, you are required to supply your own. Even if the rental does provide you with bedding, you may want to bring along a few extra blankets and your favorite pillows to ensure optimum comfort during your stay.

Clothing

Plan for anything! Pay attention to the weather forecast for the area where you will be camping to get an idea of what you can expect during your stay, but know that weather can change in an instant. Take warm clothing for chilly nights and early mornings, add a few extra items in case you get wet from the rain and take along good boots to explore the woods around the campsite.

Safety

In some cases, the rental will not include a first aid kit, so be prepared by taking your own. Include bandages, quick-freeze ice packs, insect repellent and bite treatments, rubbing alcohol, sunburn cream, burn ointment, pain reliever medication, allergy medication and anything else you think you might need.

Entertainment

You're going to need things to entertain yourself when the weather is not quite perfect or at night. Take a deck of cards, some roasting sticks for toasting marshmallows, maybe a sketch pad and some board games. Anything that you can think of to fill your time while away from the television and computer that you are likely quite accustomed to using to entertain yourself.

Talk with the rental company to learn about what is included in the RV rental. In some cases, you may need to supply your own pots and pans for cooking and other things. Preparing ahead of time will help to ensure that you have everything you need to have an enjoyable adventure in the wild.
